So...wow...I'm 35 years old today. And I'm having a weird reaction to it. Like, I know that I've accomplished so much in these 35 years, but man, doesn't that sound old? Geez. I still think that I'm 21! How did this happen? Hmmm, fodder for my next book. :)
Anyway, in addition to being geriatric, I'm also over at Writer Unboxed today, talking all about what I believe is critical to a book's success: the big hook.
Check it out. And in the meantime, I'll be stocking up on iron pills and prune juice.

Happy Birthday!!!!
I'll be forty next year--dreading it? Not a bit. But then turning 29 made me cry so go figure LOL
Happy Birthday! I still feel 21, too, and I'm a few years older than you (just a few!). What gets me is how I can't ride some amusement park rides anymore without feeling positively green. Sniff.
Happy Birthday- Every new day is such a blessing. Why should we dread getting older, I know a lot of people who haven't lived to see the age of 35. Let us remember to count our blessings.
Happy Birthday, I am almost 50, but I think I'm still 25. I love it. The problem is when I look in the mirror I don't recognize myself. Oh, well.
Happy Birthday! Hope you do something fun to celebrate.
I cried when I turned 40. It was the first time I ever felt old. Then I decided to embrace the whole "40 is the new 30" thing, and now it doesn't bother me. LOL I guess it's all perspective, right?
You wear it well, Allison, and an added bonus is that your writing reflects your ever-growing wisdom and life experiences. Yes, it's a good thing!
Many happy more 35 year celebrations!
When I was 35 I got my tattoo. Not on my birthday, and not planned, but still ... there's much to look forward to at 35. Plus, I can still say that cuz I'm still barely in my 30s as well... if only for 10 months and two days (yeah, you made me have to think about it! LOL!)
Have a great day! Two beautiful children, successful career and marriage, two books and a movie deal... need I say, DUH? LOL!!!!
I'd say it pretty much ROCKS! Now go out and have an appletini!
: )
Happy Birthday, Allison! You're wonderful!
Happy Birthday from a 42 year old! Guess what came in the mail - Amazon order of The Department of Lost and Found and I'm on the list to get Time of My Life.
35 is nothing, wait til 40 hits...
Happy Birthday!
I can assure you that it just keeps getting better from here on out. You've accomplished a lot in the past year...just think what you have to look forward to going forward!
Thanks, everyone...for the b-day wishes, the reassurances and Tammie, for buying the book! :) I woke up in a bit of a funk but as the day went on, I got a little - and then a lot - of perspective, and now, I say, 35, you can kiss my ass - who cares? I spent the evening with my husband and kids at the zoo (okay, not exactly a refined b-day, but it was a corporate event for the kids), and you know what? Life is good, and that's all that matters!
getting older is a good thing... trust me... happy birthday!
Happy Birthday! Today is also my father-in-law's birthday. He's in his 70s and would probably give his right arm to be back at 35! :) May this year be wonderful!
Happy birthday (yesterday) Allison. It's just a number, and anyway, what's the alternative???
Happy Birthday a day late... I have this new thing where I often forget how old I am. I think it is a case of selective memory
Happy Birthday!!!
:)
Hey, it was my birthday yesterday, too! And Anne Frank's and George Bush Senior's. I turned 32. It hit me that I'm now solidly into my thirties instead of just on the cusp yet I, like you, still feel much, much younger.
A belated happy birthday to you! I hope you had a lovely celebration and that the people who love you pampered you.
I'm 47 and I'm slightly weirded out that I'll be 50 in just THREE YEARS. But I think the worst birthday was when I passed the age my dad died. It was like I was suddenly living on borrowed time, if that makes any sense. It passed, but I think about it each birthday now.
Heh-heh -- forget the prune juice! Prunes themselves are the way to go; at least you get fiber too. :oP
