Goodbye Dear Friends

You have been with me through thick and thin - literally - through two pregnancies; through the conception and drafting and publication of one, nearly two, books; through fall and winter and spring (though I tend to lose contact a bit over the summer); through, well, just about everything.

But our relationship is well, literally beginning to thin. It's fraying and stained and frankly, unsightly. I suspect that people are starting to comment.

So it's with much sorrow that I'm saying goodbye. I've loved you so, so much and you've been of great support.

Goodbye my beloved Gap Kids velour sweatpants. For the past six years, you've provided unimaginable amounts of comfort. But your waistbands have popped and your legs are gnarly, and well, it's all gotten a little embarrassing.

So while I love you dearly, it's time to look for something new. As I case the racks of J.Crew and yes, Gap Kids (always return to the place of your first love), know that I'll think of you fondly and smile.

(Hey readers, where do you get your favorite lounge wear? As you can tell, I'm in need of an upgrade, but I need a 30" inseam and everything other than kids wear and J.Crew petites is too long!)

If you take them to the tailor to be hemmed you'd have a lot more options. It's just so hard to find pants that fit hips, waist, thighs, with no spillage over. Add length to your requirements and it's impossible.

TJMaxx, Marshalls and Loehmans. From that cluster of wonderful "always on sale" shops, I have my favorite Nike and Adidas sweat pants (along with a few no-name brands that are wonderful still) that last me through the winter.

I get my running gear here, too, which is great if you don't mind interesting colors like hot pink and orange ;-)

For days when I only leave the house to grab the mail: Life is Good flannel PJ bottoms. So comfy...so happy...so good :)

For the days where they might be filming me for "What Not to Wear," Danskin standard black yoga pants.

Victoria's Secret Catalogue has a lot of pants that come in 30 inseam. I think the drawstring velour pants might. Happy shopping!

You had me going for a second! :D

Hmm, favorite loungewear seems to come from lingerie shops: V's Secret has some great, comfortable clothing. They used to have a catalog called "Victoria's Secret Country" that featured oodles of great loungewear. Might still be around, but I don't get it anymore.

ROOTS full sweat suit - sweat pants, sweat shirt, sweat band. The only way to go.

Whew, thought you were leaving your blog. Can't live with Ask Allison. Well, I do wear sweatpants (Kohl's juniors department) but mostly Urban Outfitters gauchos from 2005 or 2006 usually. You can get J. Crew to tailor anything, but check Sara Jessica Parker's Bitten line for some capri sweatpants. I think I saw them at Steve & Barry's last time. Gap has capri stuff too this year.

Good luck!

I vote for STeve and Barry's too!!! I love their stuff but I dont know aout inseams. I actually need a 32 in and I have a hard time finding stuff long enough.

I love Eddie Bauer too but they're pricey and I'm not. Old Navy but their stuff tends to run long on me. Hmmm I was no help!

Ha! i nearly choked reading your post, fearing no more of your blog. I'm wearing my old Gap velour sweats right now—although in an adult size. I love 'em. You've gotten a lot of great suggestions. The Nike yoga-sweats hold their shape through countless washes and will comfort you as long or longer than the Gaps.
Enjoy your search for a new dear friends!

Ha! For a moment I was worried you were bidding your ardent readers "farewell" and I was going to scream "no!!! I just found you and will have many questions!" Well, thankfully you're still here, and I'm so glad to have found my way here. Thank you for creating this website and sharing your wisdom so liberally with us.
Cheers!
