So, I don't care what people say, you can sooooo judge a book by its cover. Or at least I do. I'm sure that I've passed up a ton of great books because their covers didn't grab me, but I guess that's my loss. (Or really, the author's loss because he or she didn't get the sale.) But I am a total sucker for a good, clean, grabby cover - if it nabs my attention, I'll likely pick it up, and if I pick it up and read the back and it sounds appealing, bam, I'll buy it.
So, it's with GREAT excitement that I received the cover for Time of My Life today. Because I LOVE IT!!! This is totally a book that I would reach for in the bookstore, and I'm just over the moon about it. While it's not a literal interpretation of an anecdote from the book, it really does convey the spirit of the words inside, and that's really what a good cover should do.
Swoon. Check it out! I'm in love!

I so love this cover!! I'm with you -- it's the book covers that grab me. Then if I look in the inside and it looks good, I'm sold.
I've read TDLF, so I know that the inside of this one will be good too. And now that we know that a lot of people will pick it up and look inside, it will only mean good things.

MM - you know, that's so funny - I said the same thing to my editor: that it must be a requirement that all of my covers have girls wearing scarfs or something! No, it's actually NOT set in winter...I have no idea how the cover artists come up with cover ideas, but I'd love to hear why they do what they do. Hmmmm, maybe that would be a good interview for the blog.
Blurbs - they're coming! I just sent out initial emails to some authors yesterday, so hopefully, I'll have a few within a few weeks. (That is, of course, if they agree to read it AND they actually like it!)
